Your Life, Your Assets, Who Will Decide?

Many have been told that if they do nothing else to take care of their legal affairs, they should write a will. This is sound advice. People often delay planning for the transition from life event because they don't feel they have anything important enough to record in a will at the present time, or they put it off because they believe they'll be able to plan later. In the absence of a will after death, state law will determine who receives the property (and it may well not be whom you would have chosen), and a judge may decide who will raise minor children. In a will, individuals can make these decisions for themselves.

It is important to prepare financially for the transition from life. One of the greatest gifts one can leave for loved ones is an organized estate and well prepared will or revocable living trust.

In this training program, participants will:

  • Realize the importance of planning for distribution of their assets and arranging care for minor children as a result of an unforeseen death or incapacity
  • Recognize the consequences of their failure to plan for the distribution of their assets
  • Receive helpful tips for deciding to have a standard will versus a living trust
  • Identify considerations for distribution of assets after death, titling/ownership of assets, and life insurance and estate tax management
